Mark Spoon – President/CEO
Mr. Spoon is an accomplished corporate strategist and business development executive with 30 years of experience in the energy and aerospace industries. He has acted as research engineer, scientist, and business leader for high-profile companies such as ConocoPhillips and TRW. Mr. Spoon spent over ten years in Asia as President of Conoco Petcoke Far East Ltd. During that time, he operated offices in Tokyo, Singapore, and Beijing, managing international joint ventures and business development for ConocoPhillips. He is President of SSI Discovery, LLC, an international management consulting firm specializing in corporate strategy development and organizational optimization. Mr. Spoon has written several books and published articles, and holds an MS in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from the University of Colorado.
Bill Hardy – VP Business Development
Mr. Hardy is a marine engineer, specializing in business development and project management. He has over 33 years of experience in naval engineering and diesel engine sales. Most recently, Mr. Hardy served as the Marine Business Development Application Engineer for Stewart & Stevenson where he worked closely with large marine end-users worldwide, providing technical expertise, start-up advising, design services, installation, and sales support. Prior to that role, Mr. Hardy held numerous positions for the United States Navy, such as Contractual Chief Engineer, Project Manager, Port Captain, and Port Engineer, providing engineering services to various U.S.S. vessels. Mr. Hardy holds a BS in Marine Engineering from the California Maritime Academy.
Lee Wiley – VP Sales & Marketing
Mr. Wiley is a skilled strategist and entrepreneur, with over 40 years of executive experience in banking, investor relations, and software development. In addition to positions at Chase Bank in New York and Crutcher Resources Corp, Mr. Wiley was President of Sabine Steel and Construction, which merged with United Refinery Services. He started and operated International Expert Systems, Inc., a successful point of sale software company, where his distribution and strategy tactics propelled the company to the top of its field for 20 years. He sold the business in 2004 to become a consultant to oil field service companies and financial institutions. Mr. Wiley is currently an energy advisor to the Houston Technology Center and he holds a BA in Economics from Lafayette College.
Gary Lawson – Director Engineering/Technical Service
Mr. Lawson is a mechanical engineer, specializing in manufacturing and engineering system development with a focus on high speed and robotic manufacturing systems development and plant construction. He has 40 years of experience in various manufacturing roles, where he designed and built robotics, systems, production equipment, and manufacturing plants that generated and improved operational efficiencies. He has significant management experience, holding roles such as Vice President, Chief Engineer, and General Manager for various manufacturing companies. Mr. Lawson has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and Accounting from California State University and is the founder and owner of Lawson Construction and Consultant Co.
Carl Ranno – General Counsel / Investor Relations
Mr. Ranno is a corporate attorney and executive officer with over 40 years of international legal and business experience. During the past several years, he has acted as an advisor in strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions and as a securities attorney to numerous public companies. He has significant experience in US securities work, including the preparation of registration statements, making appearances before the SEC and the NASD, as well as preparation and review of other filings required by the 33 and 34 Act. He has served as an advisor, director, legal advisor, president, and CEO of public and private companies. Mr. Ranno has a BA in Economics from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit School of Law.
Stephen Kelly – Director Manufacturing & Quality
Mr. Kelly is a successful manufacturing and engineering executive with a focus on operational efficiencies to drive quality and profit. He has 23 years of experience in manufacturing, operations, and engineering. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Manufacturing Services for Ohmstede, Ltd., an O&G services company and largest heat exchanger manufacturer in the U.S. Prior to that, he was the Engineering Manager for Armor Holdings, where he led the company’s R&D effort in support of all medium tactical vehicles for the U.S. Army. At GH Hensley, Mr. Kelly led a manufacturing division that designs, tests, builds, delivers, and supports the entire line of construction attachments for Kobelco and Komatsu. Mr. Kelly is the co-author of a U.S. patent and has a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Phil Cleland – Controller
Mr. Cleland is an executive financial strategist with a strong background in corporate renewal and growth. He has more than 30 years of diverse financial management experience, beginning his career as a Certified Public Accountant at Arthur Andersen & Co. with a focus on the energy industry. He has since served in various financial roles, including Chief Financial Officer of both public and private companies. He has worked across several industries such as investment banking, oil and gas, real estate, and media/broadcasting. Mr. Cleland also has international experience, having lived and worked in Europe during his career. He currently sits as an Energy Advisor for the Houston Technology Center. Mr. Cleland has a BS in Accounting from Grove City College and an MBA from Creighton University.
